Or maybe you just want to improve your current glass cutting skills? This is the class for you. Focus on things that you want to learn. I will demonstrate all kinds of cuts and equipment and you will have practice tome. Boost your skills! Have you ever wanted to fuse glass? Want to get creative with designing and cutting?

Come on down and take a fun, new class. After your piece is all cut and laid out the way you want it we will put it in the kiln over night. Then you come back and pickupyour finished piece. It's like Christmas morning! In the two-day workshop, students will explore the many facets of working with silver glass. For reducing silver glass students will learn how to work with different reduction flames, varying length of reducing time, and changing placements and positionsof the bead in the flame, to achieve various results.

For striking silver glass students will learn how to achieve and recognize the "first strike," thus enabling you to duplicate the striking sequence on their own. For reducing and striking silver, students will learn how to best capture the effects under encasement.

Once the basic technique of working with silver glass is achieved, students will learn the different ways of using silver glass to expand their repertoire. Some of the techniques we may cover include encasing silver glass, surface decoration with silver glass, silver glass twisties, and using silver glass in gravity swirls. In addition to how to achieve the best results with this mysterious glass, special emphasis will be placed on design and perfect bead shaping. Learn how to use various glass cutting tools, stained glass and glass rods to create a personal mosaic-style design of your choice on a inch stepping stone.

In the first week you will make 6 small projects suitable for pendants or magnets. These will be fired and returned to you in the second class. At that time we will have a discussion of what worked and what you would do differently.

You will then have materials available and time to do a larger project like tiles, wall hangings or a plate. All materials are provided for both weeks. Materials for second projects are limited to three 4-inch tiles, two 6-inch squares or one inch piece.

We will have a selection of molds which you can choose to use for an additional firing into bowls or plates. Tools will be available to share however you should bring our own glass cutting tools if you have them to avoid any waiting. Create two beautiful projects in this workshop with layers of rich, colorful fused glass. Learn the basic principles of glass fusing, easy tricks for cutting glass, and other techniques to create the illusion of movement, depth and motion.

The first night's project will be an elegant fused glass tree, and the second night students will create a tumbling, fluid wave. You will choose colors and design your shapes using a large selection of colorful glass and frits, as well as fusing wire, and all the toolsyou'll need. You will complete two 8-inch round pieces ready for hanging in a sunny window to fill your piece with light, or metal stand may be purchased for an additional fee in class. Students may bring their own glass or mosaic cutting tools if they are labeled with their name.
